Welcome to Boeufalo.

In France, the butcher shop or boucherie is one of the most important stops on the market street—the epitome of a friendly neighborhood specialty store where customers can count on high quality meats and expert advice. After years of living and working in Europe, we wanted to bring the delightful experience of the French butcher to our own favorite neighborhood in Buffalo.

At Moriarty’s, you’ll find cuts of meat you already know and many that may be new to you—all freshly cut by hand to ensure maximum flavor and minimum waste. We’ll tell you where each cut comes from, how we like to prepare it, and why we love it. We’ll look at your recipes, make suggestions, answer your questions, and customize your order. And we’ll share our joy of food and cooking and eating with you from behind our counter and in our adjacent café.

If you’re a novice cook, an experienced chef, an adventurous eater, or simply a curious passerby, we hope you’ll drop in to shop, dine, chat, ask advice, or share your favorite food memories. We can’t wait to welcome you!

Put your life on simmer…

Crafted with the same care and attention to detail that we prioritize in our shop, our seasonal sandwiches, tapas and daily specials feature the best of our hand-cut meats cooked to perfection.

...or turn up the heat.

We love a good party and we love to host events in our shop and café. Whether you partake of one of our delightful theme dinners, come to a butchering workshop, or turn to us to help you host a private event, we’re here to fuel your curiosity and bring community together.

Do you jus?

We do!

At Moriarty’s, nothing goes to waste. We buy sustainably raised whole animals from a few committed local farmers and are continuously coming up with innovative ways to use every single part from nose to tail. We make our own sausages, smoked meats, and charcuterie. We render all our fat and use it in our café fryer. We roast our bones and use them to make rich stock and jus. We create specialty grinds for people and pets from organ meat. We even go beyond the edible, using tallow to create natural candles, creamy soaps, and skin-loving lotions. In an ideal week, the only things left in our shop and café kitchen are full bellies, happy customers, and the real satisfaction of having done things well.
